AI Chat Q&A is a question-answering and knowledge-discovery assistant that turns natural-language questions into clear, structured, cited answers. Instead of scrolling through search results, you ask a question — in text or by voice — and get a direct answer with key takeaways, action steps, a confidence score and the sources behind it.
It is built for everyone who needs fast, reliable answers: students and educators, researchers, developers, marketers, businesses, customer-support teams and curious general users. Conversations are multi-turn and context-aware, so you can ask follow-up questions, drill deeper and explore a topic the way you would with a knowledgeable assistant.
Crucially, it can answer questions about your own documents. Attach a PDF, report or spreadsheet and the tool retrieves the relevant passages and grounds its answer in them — a private, in-browser implementation of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
When you ask a question, the tool first analyzes it — detecting the category, question type (factual, how-to, comparison, calculation and more), language and complexity. If you have attached documents, it chunks them into passages, builds a BM25 relevance index and retrieves the passages most likely to contain the answer.
For document questions, the answer is assembled from and cited to those retrieved passages, entirely on your device, so it stays faithful to your source. For open-domain questions, when a model provider is configured the question — together with any retrieved context — is sent to a large language model with a category- and mode-specific instruction, then returned with citations. Without a provider key, the tool still answers from your documents and guides you on enabling a model for general knowledge.
Every answer is then scored: confidence, groundedness (how much is backed by sources), completeness and readability, plus a reliability and verification status. This structured-verification workflow helps you trust — and check — what you read.
The assistant handles the full range of question styles: simple factual lookups, open-ended and exploratory questions, complex multi-step reasoning, comparisons, definitions, calculations and opinion-style "what should I do" questions. It supports conversational, context-aware follow-ups so a single session can evolve from a quick fact to a deep dive.
