An AI text summarizer is a tool that reads long-form content and automatically produces a shorter version containing only the most important ideas. Instead of reading thousands of words, you paste your text — or upload a document, drop in a URL, or scan an image — and get a clear, accurate summary in seconds, structured the way you need it.
This summarizer is extractive: it scores and ranks the real sentences in your source and assembles the highest-signal ones into a faithful summary. Because it never invents new wording, the output stays true to the original and avoids the hallucinations a generative chatbot can introduce — which makes it safe for research, legal, medical and business content where accuracy matters.
It is built for students, researchers, professionals, content creators, educators, agencies and businesses, and it runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded for local summaries, so it is safe for confidential reports and proprietary documents.
The engine first cleans your text and splits it into sentences, stripping away boilerplate and navigation noise. It then scores every sentence for importance using a TextRank-style graph — which ranks sentences by how central they are to the document, much like a search engine ranks pages by their links — combined with TF-IDF weighting that highlights the words that genuinely distinguish your content.
To avoid repetition, it applies Maximal Marginal Relevance (MMR), favoring sentences that add new information over ones that echo what is already included. Preservation controls then guarantee that key facts, dates, statistics, quotes and references survive the cut, and the selected sentences are assembled into the format your chosen mode requires — prose, bullet points or structured sections.
Long inputs are processed in chunks across multiple passes, so even a book-length document is condensed without losing the thread. A final pass extracts keywords, named entities, dates and numbers, and computes insights like sentiment, readability and topic clusters — and none of it ever leaves your device.
One engine powers more than eighteen purpose-built modes. Core modes cover the everyday cases: Standard gives a balanced overview, Short distills to the essentials, Detailed keeps more nuance, Executive leads with the bottom line, and Bullet Points turns everything into scannable takeaways.
Specialized modes reshape the output for a specific document type. Academic and Research produce structured abstracts with objectives, methods and findings. Meeting summaries surface decisions, action items and owners. News summaries answer what happened, why it matters and the timeline. Book and Chapter modes pull out themes, lessons and key quotes, while Legal, Medical, Technical and Business modes adapt the vocabulary and structure to each field. Student Notes and Simplified modes make dense material easy to revise and understand.
Researchers use the Academic and Research modes to condense papers into structured abstracts that preserve the objective, methodology, results, conclusions and limitations — perfect for triaging a large reading list before committing to a full read. Entity and date extraction make it easy to track authors, institutions and study timelines across many sources.
Used responsibly, summarizing accelerates literature review and note-taking without replacing critical reading or citation. Always cite the sources behind any idea you summarize, and verify figures and findings against the original before quoting them in your own work.
Teams compress meeting transcripts, quarterly reports, proposals and long email threads into Executive or Meeting summaries with clear decisions, action items, owners and risks. Brief stakeholders in minutes instead of hours, surface what needs attention, and export straight to PDF or DOCX for circulation.
Toggle the include-controls to add Key Insights, Action Items, Conclusions, Recommendations, Risks and Opportunities, so a single report becomes a ready-to-share brief. Because processing is local, sensitive internal documents never leave the device.
Students turn dense textbook chapters, lecture transcripts and PDFs into clean study notes with the Student Notes or Bullet Points mode. Skim the essentials before class, build revision sheets in seconds, and keep the definitions, dates and statistics that show up on the exam.
The reading-level and Simplified options rewrite complex passages into plainer language, making difficult material approachable. Pair summaries with the keyword and entity extraction to create flashcards and glossaries — and always cite your sources in assignments.
To summarize a research paper, paste the text or upload the PDF and choose the Research or Academic mode. Set the length to medium or detailed so the structured abstract has room to cover the objective, methodology, results and conclusions, and enable Preserve Statistics and Preserve References so the numbers and citations that matter survive.
Review the extracted entities and dates to capture the authors, datasets and timeline, then read the conclusions and limitations sections the tool surfaces. Use the summary to decide which papers deserve a full, careful read — but always verify methods and results against the original before citing them.
To summarize an article, paste the text or the URL and pick the Standard, Short or News mode depending on how much detail you want. News mode is ideal for current events — it organizes the summary around what happened, why it matters, the key facts and the background context, so you grasp the story at a glance.
Use the 10–90% slider to control how much of the article you keep, turn on Preserve Facts and Preserve Dates for accuracy, and switch to Bullet Points when you want a quick, scannable version for a newsletter or briefing. Export to Markdown or HTML to drop the summary straight into your content workflow.
AI summaries save hours of reading, help you triage large volumes of content, and surface the key points and data you would otherwise have to hunt for. They make dense material accessible, support faster decisions, and turn long documents into shareable briefs, study notes and research abstracts.
Because this summarizer is extractive, private and free, you get faithful, fact-accurate results without sign-up, watermarks or usage limits — and because it shows insights, keywords and entities alongside the summary, it doubles as a quick analytical read of any document before you commit to the full text.
